How we test facial razors

Every razor Peachly sells gets bought, unboxed, and used on real skin before it earns a page on this site. Our test bench is a bathroom mirror, good light, and clean, dry skin. Here is exactly what we check, and where home testing stops.

Our criteria

1. Blade glide. A facial razor lives or dies on how it moves across skin. We run the dermaplane razor in short, light strokes at roughly a 45-degree angle over the cheeks, jaw, and upper lip, and note honestly whether it skims smoothly or tugs and skips. A blade that drags is a blade that gets abandoned in a drawer, so glide is the first thing we judge and the thing we weight most heavily.
2. The safety guard. The guard is what makes an at-home razor approachable, so we pay close attention to it. We check that it sits evenly along the blade, that it lets the razor lift fuzz without letting the edge bite into skin, and that a normal, slightly nervous first-timer can use it with confidence. 3. Handle grip. Wet hands, a slippery bathroom, close work near the eyes and brows: the handle has to stay put through all of it.
